MLM Home Office Set-up
The right way to set-up and maintain your home MLM business office
MLM Home Office Overview
You might think that setting up a desk, phone and computer in your home is all you need to get started with your home based MLM business office. Sure, you can do that, but it won’t be long before your business stuff starts getting mixed up with your personal stuff and you can’t concentrate due to household distractions. Here is how to get your home MLM business office set-up right the first time so you can focus on success.
Location, location, location
Careful consideration should be taken when choosing the best room to locate your home office. If possible select a part of the house that is either detached or the furthest away from the more commonly frequented areas of your house. You need a location that is quiet so you can mentally depart from home and enter your world of work. The goal is to set up shop where you can be easily forgotton by other members of the house. Think “out of sight, out of mind”. Finally, try to set-up in a location with a door that can be closed. If you have children, a door that can be locked from the inside is optimal.
Home Office Ambiance
Now that you have picked your home office location, it’s time to make the space over to look like it is meant for business. The idea here is to stimulate a psychological transition that convinces your mind that you have left the house and entered a real business office. At the very minimum, paint the walls a different color then the rest of the house. If the room has carpet, consider taking it out and putting in a hardwood floor or tile. A ceiling fan with an industrial style will not only keep the air circulating in your home office space, but add a subtle professional element. Finally, avoid using bedroom lamps standard home ceiling lights. Instead, use dimming desk lamps and/or track lighting to set the mood.
Home Office Layout
basically, a home office needs a desk, bookshelf, and a filing cabinet. Depending on your office location and space type, you may need additional furnishings to give you privacy. For example if your office space does not have a door you should bring in cubicle walls. Cubicle walls will help keep you out of site and mind of others that are home as well as reduce the sound coming into and leaving your workspace.
Before you get your office furniture measure the floor space in your office and use a piece of graphing paper, where each square equals 2 feet, to sketch out potential floor plans. Avoid blocking your work area into a tight space. You don’t want to feel confined. If you have a window, place your desk in a spot where you can see out of it. Position your computer screen away from the window or bright lights to eliminate any glare. Once you decide on a final floor plan, go out and buy the appropriate furniture and filing cabinets.

Keep It Clean and Orderly
OK, now your home office is ready for business! No matter how much time and thought you put into the design and layout, it will all go for naught if you let paper and trash pile up. Having a disorganized office will slow you down. Take time each day to tidy up and file paperwork. The best time to do filing is at the end of the day. Not only will you have an organized desk when you walk in the next morning, but the act of putting work files away helps you to mentally close out the day. Dusting the furniture and trash removal should take place at least twice a week.
